Mehrdad Afsari
Afsari is an artist working essentially with reproducible images in various media and formats. He addresses memory, both collective and personal, in a codified and multi-cultural language articulated in a world of shifting boundaries. He was born in Khoy, 1977, Iran and graduated at Art University of Tehran in BA and MFA of Photography. He has been teaching at Tehran Art University since 2004. His artworks have been exhibited internationally across the Middle East, USA and UK, and are part of a number of contemporary art collections. He has had 9 solo exhibitions since 2002 and more than 50 national and international group exhibitions since 1998. Afsari has been an artist-in-resident at International Art & Artists, “Art Bridge Program”, Washington D.C., New York, Charleston, USA during 2008. He has attended Paris Photo, France, 2009, Contemporary Istanbul, Turkey, 2010 and 2011, Berliner-Liste, Berlin, 2011 and Bonham’s, Dubai, UAE, 2011.
